Poppies are widely used in folklore and mythology as a symbol for remembrance and rest. Our poppies are a range of colors including deep red, light pink, dark purple and a frilled deep purple (almost black) variety. We collected the parent plants of our poppies in Hungary on a cousin's farm outside of Budapest. The red strain came from the gardens of friends in Canterbury, England. An early bloom in spring, poppies are beautiful and regal in the garden and the dried pods make lovely arrangements. If you plan to save your poppy seeds, look out for the goldfinches!
Planting Instructions: sow by scattering seeds and lightly rake into the soil. Full sun. Can be sown in mild climates in fall for spring blooms or once the soil can be worked in spring.
