1. Choose the Right Time and Location

  Climate: Luffas need warm temperatures (70–90°F) and a growing season of 120–200 days. They’re sensitive to frost, so start seeds indoors in cooler climates.

  Sunlight: Pick a sunny spot with at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily.

  Soil: Luffas prefer well-draining, fertile soil with a pH of 6.0–7.5. Amend soil with compost or organic matter for best results.

2. Start Seeds Indoors

  Timing: Start seeds indoors 4–6 weeks before the last frost date (around March or April in most regions).

  Soaking: Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours to improve germination.

  Planting: Sow seeds ½ inch deep in biodegradable pots to avoid disturbing roots during transplanting. Keep soil moist and warm (75–85°F).

  Germination: Seeds typically sprout in 7–14 days.
