Glass Gem Corn (Zea mays)
This stunning variety was bred by Carl Barnes, a part-Cherokee plant-breeder, in an effort to preserve Native American corn varieties. This flint corn is not eaten like sweet corn but is great for popping, cornmeal or as a gorgeous decoration.
Origin: One of our neighbors who is an amazing gardener and seed-saver gave us Glass Gem Corn seeds from her garden in Asheville, NC about 10 years ago and they are the parent seed of the seeds in our catalog.

Planting Instructions: Sow 1 seed 1" deep every 12" after danger of frost in spring. Full sun.
