Onion (Allium fistulosum)
Green onions are long and slender and do not form large bulbs as other onions do. Our variety of scallion is great eaten fresh from the garden and will overwinter in most regions.
Onions are a biennial, producing flowers and seed in their second year. We think every kitchen garden should have a patch of spring onions and we chose this variety for it's mild but distinctly onion-y flavor. Great for container gardens too!
Origin: We saved the parent seed of our bunching onions from the garden of a friend in Swannanoa, NC.
