Murasaki Sweet Pepper (Capsicum annuum)

Murasaki is the Japanese word for "purple" and these heirloom sweet peppers have a beautiful purple color. The stems and leaves of this plant have streaks of purple and the flowers are a lovely purple shade that make this pepper very ornamental in the garden. These rare peppers were developed in Nara, Japan and are tasty and nutritious eaten fresh or chopped in salads.

Origin: We saved seeds of this beautiful variety many years ago from a community garden near Tokyo on a trip to Japan.

(Approximately 20 seeds per packet)

Germination rate: 90% - tested 9/1/24

Planting Instructions: We recommend starting peppers indoors in a sunny and warm location 4-6 weeks before last frost in spring. Plant outdoors in full sun after danger of frost in spring. Note: pepper seeds need soil temperatures to be at least 70 F to germinate and we use a heating pad under the seedling tray to maintain temperature.
