Blondkopfchen Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum)
Blondkopfchen means "Little blonde girl" in German and this old East German heirloom is super-sweet with a slightly citrusy and tart aftertaste. Cherry-sized fruits grow in big clusters of 20-30 tomatoes and the plants are incredibly productive. This variety has become a favorite in our garden and it's nearly impossible not to smile after you pop a "blondkopfchen" in your mouth. Guten appetit! (Indeterminate)
Origin: The parent seed of this wonderful variety was given to us by a friend who runs a community garden near Munich, Germany. She has grown the same strain of Blondkopfchen since escaping to West Germany as a little girl with her family in July of 1961, just a month or so before the Berlin Wall was erected.
