Coeur de Boeuf Jaune Tomato - Gattières Strain (Solanum lycopersicum)
This beautiful heart-shaped tomato originated in Gattières, France, a commune north of Nice on the banks of the Var River. Gattières is know for wonderful agricultural produce because of the ideal Mediterranean climate and the natural shelter that the surrounding hills provide from the winds that come off the Alps.
The large fruits are mainly yellow with red streaks once they ripen. This strain differs from other Coeur de Boeuf Jaune because the fruits tend to be larger and have a bit more red flesh once they mature. The flavor is crisp and sweet with a hint of tropical fruit. While the foliage tends to be wispy like many heart-shaped tomatoes, the plants are incredibly productive and generally produce a little later in the season than other tomato varieties.
Origin: We were given the parent seed of our Coeur de Boeuf Jaune by a farmer at the Libération market in Nice who has become a friend over the years. Their farm is located in Gattières and they were part of a consortium of farmers who bred and selected the strain many years ago.

Planting Instructions: We recommend starting tomato seeds indoors in a bright and warm location 4 to 6 weeks before last frost date in spring. Transplant after danger of frost in full sun and trellis.
