Wildflower Seed Mix

Wildflower meadows are a wonderful way to support biodiversity. Native pollinators and birds benefit from the nectar and seeds that flowers and herbs provide and wildflower meadows improve soil health through their root structure.

A wildflower meadow doesn't need to be large to provide these benefits and we designed our wildflower seed packets to sow a 30ft by 30ft space.

Our wildflower mix is made up of both perennial and annual flower varieties and the annuals are types that reseed easily. These are the varieties:

Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea), Swamp Marigold (Bidens aristosa mutica), Aster (Aster novae-angliae), Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus), Spotted Bee Balm (Monarda punctata), Wild Bergamot (Monarda fistulosa), Calendula (Calendula officinalis), Hungarian Chamomile (Matricaria recutita), Cleome (Cleome hassleriana), Dill (Anethum graveolens), Foxglove Beardtongue (Penstemon digitalis), Rocket Larkspur (Delphinium consolida), Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca), Flanders Poppy (Papaveri rhoeas), Tithonia (Tithonia rotundifolia) and Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)

In the first spring after you plant your wildflower seeds you will see lots of growth, Some of the varieties will bloom in the first year while others will begin to bloom in their second year. Wildflower meadows usually take two summers to be fully established but once they do you will have blooms that return every year.

Germination Rate: All varieties exceed 75% germination

Planting Instructions: Some of these varieties require cold-stratification, a period of cold and moist conditions to improve germination. Scatter seeds in an area of prepared soil in the fall or winter a few weeks after your first frost or a few weeks before your last frost. A good time to plant your wildflower mix is just before rain and you can gently rake the area after planting.
