Cucumber (Cucumis sativus)
Nothing says summer like cool garden-grown cucumbers. This Hungarian variety has classic cucumber flavor and is a vigorous producer. We usually trellis our cucumber vines to climb but they grow well wandering also.
Origin: The parent seed of our cucumber variety came from the farm of our cousin in Hungary. In Hungarian cucumbers are called "uborka" and our variety is great for pickling or fresh eating.

Recipe Ideas:
There are lots of great way to enjoy cucumbers and one of our favorite dishes is a Hungarian cucumber salad that Papas' Hungarian mother makes. It's called uborkasaláta and this is how our family makes it.
First, slice your cucumbers very thinly and salt them well. Let them sit for about 20 minutes in the refrigerator an then squeeze them. This is to remove water and you'll be surprise at how much water they loose!
Next, chop a clove or raw garlic very well (two cloves if you're a true garlic lover) and mix the garlic into a serving bowl with the cucumbers. Press the cucumbers down in the bowl and then add a layer of sour cream to the top of the cucumbers. Finally, garnish the sour cream with a dusting of sweet paprika powder. We recommend making your own paprika with our Feher Ozon Paprika. Jó étvágyat!
