Tithonia (Tithonia rotundifolia)
Late in the summer when other flowers begin to fade, tithonia explodes with dozens of deep-orange 3" blooms. This heat-loving plant is drought tolerant, thrives in poor soil and can be totally neglected. Indigenous to Central America, the southern migrating monarch butterflies adore tithonia as a familiar nectar and the plants are a favorite of bees and many varieties of butterflies.
Origin: We saved the parent seed of our Tithonia from a community garden near Mazunte, Mexico.
(Approximately 50 seeds per packet)
Planting Instructions: sow seeds by pressing a group of 3 seeds into soil every 12" or by simply scattering.
