Tomato (Misora Japanese Tomato)

Misora Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum)

Developed in Japan by breeder Mikado Kyowa, the Misora 64 tomato is super sweet! In Japan, high-end fruits and vegetables are often given as gifts and this beautiful round and nearly blemish-free variety is highly sought after. Misora is a connoisseur variety in Japan and they are quite expensive. 

First, the flavor. Misora tomatoes are very sweet but still maintain a distinct old-time tomato flavor. It is well-balanced and has a pleasant tang. The fruits have a buttery texture and the sweetness also allows a hint of umami flavor. The plants are vigorous, indeterminate, normal leafed. 

The fruits generally grow in perfect clusters of four and are smallish weighing 3 to 7 ounces. The flesh is pinkish red and the fruits almost never crack and the bottom of the fruit often has a little pointy "nose". 

The Misora tomato is fairly small and doesn't have the flashy appearance of many newer tomato varieties but this one should be grown for the outstanding sweetness and wonderful flavor. 

Origin: The parent seed of our Misora tomatoes were given to us by Lauren from Mr. & Mrs. Tomato Head (Tomato lovers collaborative). Lauren is a world authority on tomatoes and the original seeds were given to her by a friend and tomato collector in Germany.

Germination Rate: All of our seed varieties exceed 80% germination and are re-tested every 6 months.

Planting Instructions: We recommend starting tomato seeds indoors in a bright and warm location 4 to 6 weeks before last frost date in spring. Transplant after danger of frost in full sun and trellis.
