Old Ivory Egg Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum)

Old Ivory Egg Tomato, also known as Australian Yellow Plum. An heirloom well named as it's fruit is the size (1 x 2"), shape and approximate color of a chicken's egg. Offered in the 1986 SSE Yearbook by Thane Earle of Whitewater, Wisconsin who noted that the seeds were from Australia. Regular leaf plant produces 2-3 oz., pale, ivory, tomatoes that eventually turn creamy-yellow.

This beautiful yellow tomato has become one of our favorites because the mild, sweet flavor has a hint of citrus and the plants are super-productive. We like to add this variety to salads and eat them as a snack in the garden while harvesting. (Indeterminate)

Origin: One of our friends and seed customers who has a fantastic garden near Charlotte, NC gave us the parent seed of our Old Ivory Egg Tomato. She is a tomato connoisseur, growing over a hundred varieties each year, and she thought this would be a great addition to our catalog. She was right!

(Approximately 20 seeds per packet)

Germination Rate: 90% tested 7/23/25

Planting Instructions: We recommend starting tomato seeds indoors in a bright and warm location 4 to 6 weeks before last frost date in spring. Transplant after danger of frost in full sun and trellis.Â
