Tennessee Green Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum)
The big fruits of this beefsteak tomato stay green when fully ripe and the plants are vigorous producers yielding fruits that average 1 lb. The biggest Tennessee Green Tomato we've grown was over 2 lbs. The flavor is has a good balance of sweet, acid and citrus tones and it's a perfect variety for sandwiches or on salads. You'll fall in love with the lime green flesh and if you like growing rare and unusual tomatoes this is a great variety! (Indeterminate)
Origin: The parent seed of our Tennessee Green Tomato was given to us by friends who farm in the rural and mountainous community of Flag Pond, Tennessee which is very close to Sam's Gap and the state line between NC and TN. They've grown the variety for as long as anyone in their family can remember.
